MISSION

The mission of Faith Baptist Arlington is to love God and glorify Him through the teaching of His Word, intentional disciple making, effective evangelism, and authentic worship.

CORE VALUES

LoveGod

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” -Deuteronomy 6:5

At Faith Baptist Arlington, we love God. Jesus echoes this as the most important commandment (Mark 12:29-30), and while love is universally understood, it is also universally challenging.

Love is often thought of as a feeling of affection, but Deuteronomy 6 tells us to love God not simply with our minds, but with our entire being. We show affection for the Father through our perceptions, thoughts, and passions, but we also show our love of God in the things we say, the places we go, the way we react to challenging situations, and how we use the things we have at our disposal. The command begins with the heart and extends outward to include our whole being and all our resources as well.

While we fall short of this commandment frequently, we must acknowledge that God loved us first. While were sinners, ill-deserving of His grace and mercy, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). So this love is not simply an unreachable standard that God commands from us; it is a reaction to the grace He has shown. We don’t offer our love in order to obtain His, we offer our love in response to the love He has already given.

MakeDisciples

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Disciple is defined as “one who adheres to the teachings of another.” In our case, it is someone who is learning from God’s word to live like Jesus and to love Him ultimately and completely. In short, a disciple is a Christian (Acts 11:26), or “little Christ” in the Greek.

Our desire is not just to bring people to faith in Jesus Christ, but also to help each other grow in faith, knowledge of the Bible, and our relationships with God. We want to mature in our walk with Jesus so we can face all of life’s blessings and challenges with confidence in our Savior. Just as Jesus came to serve (Mark 10:45, John 13:14-15), we want to serve one another by the Holy Spirit to become more like Jesus.

At Faith Baptist Arlington, we make disciples through worship, teaching and preaching, Bible Fellowship classes (where we have group discussions, study the word together, and get to know one another), and through many other activities.

ShareTheWord

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

The Word is the good news of God. So good that we are commanded by Jesus to share it with all the world. And so good that we want to share it with others.

We have God’s Word today in the Bible. We believe that it is divinely inspired and completely relevant to the world today. It is our Guidebook to life. We want to share these guiding messages of God’s love with others through outreach to our community and missions to the world.

ServeTheWorld

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

Jesus calls us to serve others. He taught us by example by ministering and healing those around Him.

At Faith Baptist Arlington, we follow that example of service in many ways. We serve each other in our church. We serve the community through events like Arlington in April, our church without doors initiative and “adopting” Donelson Elementary School to pray for them throughout the year. And we serve the world by going on mission trips to Guatemala.
